I just finished overhauling the look and feel of the site. The original look and feel was of my own creation and I wanted to do a redesign as soon as I had the time. Hopefully you will like the new look and feel. Let me know what you think.

I also decided to lower the price to $24.95 until June 2008. At this point I really want to build up a user base, and hopefully this will be a more attractive price point.

I also released a set of Java Snippets. These can be found on the forums.

You’ll notice the blog isn’t really referenced in the new design. I am hoping to move more conversation to the forums, and put a newsletter signup on the home page. I will send out a monthly letter detailing new snippet libraries and other news to whoever signs up.

These Past few weeks, we released snippet libraries that included HTML, ASP.Net Web Controls and ASP.Net Web.Config Snippets. This week we will Add Six More libraries into the mix. Today we will start the give aways with a useful JavaScript Library developed by Steve, a developer active in the rent a coder community.

This library includes both basic JavaScript functionality as well as xhtml that demonstrates how to integrate HTML and JavaScript for form effects, image rollovers and other common scenarios. Use this library as is, or as the start of your own customized JavaScript library.

You can edit the contents of a snippet by double clicking the snippet you want to edit, or right clicking and selecting “Edit.” You can use the snippets with Visual Studio, or with any text editor you want. To import any of the libraries, just select “Import Library” from the main menu, select the snips file, and a place to store the uncompressed snippets on your computer.

We already released two free snippet libraries, one with over 30 HTML snippets and one with over 70 ASP.Net Control Snippets. This week we are releasing a snippet library with over 30 snippets that relate to editing Web.Config files for ASP.Net.

The Snippets in this library cover every node that could be inserted into System.web except for system.webservices, which we will release as a separate library in the coming weeks. Each Snippet includes every possible attribute and child node configuration possible. These snippets were compiled using the latest msdn reference and each snippet includes a reference back to the msdn article that includes all the deails you might want to know.

Last week we released a free snippet library that included over 30 HTML Snippets. This week we are releasing a snippet library with over 70 ASP.Net control snippets. This library includes a snippet for every ASP.Net control available in the default Visual Studio 2008 toolbox.

Many of the snippets in the library have been optimized to save you time. For example, the Repeater Snippet includes markup for templates like the HeaderTemplate and ItemTemplate. But remember you can use this library as a starting point. You can always customize each snippet to have the attributes you want.

To encourage folks to download and use Snip-It Pro, I will be releasing libraries of useful snippets that can be easily imported into Snip-It Pro.

The first library includes over 30 useful HTML Snippets. Snippets include tables, lists, form inputs, meta tags, head elements, basic html marup and special characters. Just drag and drop them from Snip-It Pro into your favorite editor. All the snippets are editable, so feel free to modify them to meet your needs.

I first heard the term “snippet” back in 1999. I just started my first real job at a dot com called GORP.com. My official title was “Technical Producer” but that was just a fancy way of saying HTML code monkey.

Back then we were using a product called HomeSite to hand edit the html. I was working on a large project to convert a lot of content into a new template, clean up the html itself to make it more xHTML compliant and put it in an Xml Content management system called Dynabase. Back in those days, browsers weren’t as forgiving as they are today.

Lucky for us, HomeSite had a great little built it snippet manager. I was able to save commonly used pieces of html and share them with other “technical producers.”

After Macromedia bought Allaire, Homesite was basically dead. Since I left GORP.com, I have worked with many languages and many tools, but I can’t remember one that had a snippet manager that made me feel as productive as I did with HomeSite.

And that is mostly the inspiration for Snip-It Pro. My goal was to create a tool that makes it easy for people to organize and re-use content, not just with one application, but with any application. I wanted it to be easy to use and make users feel as productive as possible when re-using content. I am proud of what I have built so far and hope it helps everyone who tries it.
